History of WICD ABC 15:
The first air date of this channel is April 23, 1959, as a WCHU 15 TV. It is affiliated with NBC and aired an analog signal on channel 33. Its signals can travel 15 miles from the transmitter. In 1960 Plain television brought WDAN TV which is low powered ABC affiliated channel 24 have a signal range of 25 miles. This channel is owned by the Gannett company. Later on, it changed into WICD. From 1960 to 1967, it issued some local programs from its studio. In 1966, it broadcast on channel 15.
Availability of WICD Channel:
A new station was on air in July 1967 but later on due to some issue and WICD went on air in July. In 1986 Plains television sold its channel WICS but retain WICD. In 1994, Plain’s television also sold WICD to Guy Gannett. Then in 1996 Guy Gannett sold its properties to Sinclair Broadcast Group. By contrast, it is known that WICD was the only ABC affiliated station in the market linked to Champaign. In March 2011 WICD add music videos to its channel.
