A merging agreement occurred between the two major newspaper groups The Shreveport Times and Shreveport Journal on December 4, 1953. The Bureau of Federal Commission issued the Broadcasting rights to the Shreveport Television Company on February 16, 1955, after denying bids from KRMD.
