The original founder of this network is Television Broadcasters Inc which was owned by R.C. Reed and H.D. Williams. ABC affiliation was adopted in November 1955 along with NBC and DuMont network. It was associated with CBS programming until KFDM begin its transmission in April. UHF 31 stop transmission services on August 1, 1956, under the mandate of the Federal Communications Commission.
The original transmitter tower is still standing which was 76 meters tall and situated on the west of Vidor. KMBT call letters were granted on June 18, 1961, which was approved by the FCC after submitting the application for allocation of channel 12. It was decided to have ABC association which still lasts after limited clearance for transmission of KPAC and KFDM televisions. During six years Golden Triangle gets all three associations from the market for this area. Originally it was acquired by Randolph Reed and Doug Williams and they build an antenna and transmitter facility in the south of Port Arthur and Sabine Pass. Signal interference was prevented by this site which was affected to KSLA based in Shreveport.

In the early 1960s transmitter and other broadcasting, tools were moved to the current location near Mauriceville. Cowles Broadcasting get the channel under possession in 1965 and later it was sold to McKinnon Broadcasting in 1977. On digital channel 12.2, KBMT decided to launch NBC programming in transmission on January 1, 2009. After replacing Fox association of KUIL start operational activities as independent in which NBC affiliation was later acquired. From 1965 to 1999 former call letters were utilized by NBC during its programming under the agreement with London Broadcasting for the time period of ten years. KUIL programming was operated and supervised by KBMT.
