WFXB FOX 43 News Myrtle Beach SC

On July 5, 1984, it starts operational activities as an independent channel with having call letters of WGSE and owned by Carolina Christian Broadcasting. Myrtle Beach was the first area in which WGSE was operated and having secular and religious programs in their transmission time. WFXB FOX 43 original transmission facility is based in Myrtle Beach near Seaboard Street. On January 11, 1995, WGSE got associated with the WB network and it was later sold to James McGregor in 1996. Some Sunday morning programs were on-airing religious shows while the full-time religious transmission was changed. Fox affiliation was acquired by WGSE on November 10.

WFXB Local News Live:

Later it was decided to change WGSE call signs to the current WFXB. Full power Fox association was not granted in Eastern Time Zone with Florence and Myrtle Beach areas. Florence region has Fox-affiliated WFXB FOX 43 which was a low-powered television station. And cable system was providing WSFX-Tv for the area of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Myrtle Beach after switching from the CBS network in 1994.

WFWB was launched for the market via a cable after getting WB affiliation on a secondary basis for the time period of 2 years. Some sitcoms along with reality shows and entertainment programs were launched on the platform of WFXB. Children’s programs were not on-aired in 2002 after Fox network suspended its children program slots from the transmission.

ViewerShip of WFXB:

WFXB was purchased by the current owner in 2006 which was known as Bahakel Communications. A 24 hours locally-based weather segment was added on subchannel and market-based cable providers. Digital subchannel 43.4 was launched by WFXB on June 7, 2011, which was completely digitally transmitted. Grand Strand area was occupied by WFXB before launching of WMBF channel 32 with having NBC association. Local news operation was carried out with short news during evening transmission which was later extended up to thirty minutes.

News Team:

Audra Grant is working as Co-Host and Producer in the news department of WFXB. She joined the channel in 2020. The anchor and producer of the news team are Laura Pence and she start working in 2017. The weather department has Tyler Ryan and performing his duties as a Meteorologist. B.J. Kinard is an FMD host on the news team of WFXB FOX 43. Cam & NTN Co-Host of Fox 43 is Greg Rowles. In the production team, Tyler Kamp joined the WFXB in 2008.
