KBFX Fox 58 News Bakersfield CA

On November 1, 1990, KBFX begin its operational activities with the name of K58DJ which is working as a translator of KMPH with Fox associated with the area of Fresno. In 1995 call signs were changed to KMPH which is low powered network. Fox network decided to launch a separate affiliated network in the area of Bakersfield in which channel 58 was redesigned and launched with having call signs of KBFX-LP.

KBFX Local News Live:

The main feature in the new look was added 10 p.m. newscasting which was running so successfully at that time. Later Westwind Communications decided to acquire it from the owner of KMPH which was Pappas telecasting. On January 1, 2008, Fisher Communications bought the KBAK and KBFX from Westwind Communications and the new owner was based in the Seattle market. From 2010 to 2015 KBFX Fox 58 logo design remained the same and simple in its look along with call signs. Bright House Networks announced to telecast the transmission of KBFX on cable channel 6 in the area of Tehachapi on February 28, 2010. Local news was telecast in January 2011 in high resolution.

Viewership of KBFX:

Sinclair Broadcast Group announced to acquire Fisher Communications on April 11, 2013, with pending approval of the Federal Communications Commission. Titan Broadcast Group decided to sell KMPH and other broadcasting assets to Sinclair on October 3, 2013. It was the first television station in Bakersfield which never changed its affiliation and always has been associated with the Fox network. Analog service was suspended by KBFX in August and also recently launched its upgraded transmitter and subchannel 29.2 was associated with American Sports Network with the first-time transmission in the area on August 30, 2014.
