WVLT TV turned off its analog signal on VHF frequency 8, the date is June 12, 2009, this is the official date of the conversion from analog broadcast to digital broadcast under the federal authorization of the full-power television station in the U.S. The radio station’s digital signal remains on UHF frequency 30 before conversion.
When using PSIP, the digital TV receiver displays the virtual channel of the TV station as the previous VHF analog frequency 8. As part of the SAFER Act, WVLT TV has been broadcasting its analog signal until June 26 to notify viewers of the transition to digital television through the National Association of Public Service.
