Anderson decided to sold-out KBAK assets to Chronicle Publishing Company which was based in San Francisco. Harriscope Broadcasting bought the KBAK in 1964 from Reeves along with WSNS in Chicago and has some shares in KRQE with Nexstar Media Group. On Fridays and Saturdays, it went signing off with CBS affiliation until May 2008 while KBAK and KBFX transmission were replaced by Kern Weather channel which is also available by digital cable systems in the area of Bakersfield. Burnham Broadcasting decided to buy KBAK in 1986 and already owned KHON in the area of Honolulu and later also acquired WVUE in New Orleans and WLUK.
