KCTV is a virtual channel 5 and UHF digital channel 24. It is a CBS-affiliated television station, is licensed by Kansas City, Missouri, USA. It serves in the Kansas City area. The station is owned by Meredith Corporation, a subsidiary of Meredith Local Media in Des Moines, Iowa, as part of a duopoly with KSMO-TV (Channel 62), a subsidiary of MyNetworkTV. The two stations share their studios on Shawnee Mission Parkway in Fairway, Kansas.

The KCTV’s transmitter is located on East 31st Street in Union Hill, Kansas City, Missouri (adjacent to the studio of PBS member station KCPT, Channel 19). On cable TV, KCTV can be used on Charter Spectrum, Comcast Xfinity and Consolidated Communications Channel 3, Google Fiber, and AT. The digital signals of this station are various. The station is working with Five channels having PSIP short names like KCTV, Comet, This, Quest, and Shop LC.

KCTV5 CBS Programming:

KCTV’s joint shows include Dr. Phil, Inside Edition, Dish Nation, and NCIS. The television station also produced a talk and lifestyle show “Kansas City is Better,” which airs at 9:00 a.m. debuted in a format similar to Better, a lifestyle show launched by Meredith, which aired locally on sister television station KSMO TV in September 2006, until the joint show ended its nine consecutive years of airing in September 2015. The program was taken during summer break on June 6, 2013, for “retrofit”. Before returning to the local version in its revised version on September 9, the show was temporarily replaced by the national Better program.

Now news operation of KCTV broadcasts 34 hours of locally produced news per week. A seven-hour weekly local news broadcast for its sister station which is KSMO TV. This also arranges the sports debate programs which debuted on April 25, 2010, and aired at 10:00 on Sunday night.
