The KETK NBC 56 is owned by Nexstar Media Group and having two other stations KFXK channel 51 and KTPN LD which is low-powered affiliated with MyNetwork TV in the licensed areas of Tyler and Longview. Both channels served under the shared services agreement on behalf of White Knight Broadcasting which is the owner of the stations. Those stations shared the same studios which are located on Richmond Road in the Tyler area. And the transmitter of the KETK station is located near FM 855 in Northwestern Cherokee County.
KETK TV was providing its Broadcast transmission on UHF frequency 53 with analog signals. It starts producing local news in the Lufkin areas during the 2000s. For getting better area coverage with cable connection which KETK was failed to serve because of Low power transmission which was only covered the Lufkin area. Communicomm and Suddenlink carried the services in Huntington and Lufkin area.

KETK planned to start its broadcasting but due to some reason station equipment delay and the death of a man during transmitter repairing but finally in March 1987, the station starts its transmission. Channel 7 of KLTV shifted the NBC affiliation after launching the KETK. Texas American Broadcasting originally owned the station during the damage of KETK offices and studio due to a tornado that cause the damage in November 1987. The Communications Corporation of America announced to sold the television stations including KETK TV. Nexstar Broadcasting Group owned the station on January 1, 2015, along with a partner company called the name Mission Broadcasting.
