Harbenito Broadcasting Company acquired the platform and become the CBS Radio Network affiliated in 1943. The first broadcasting transmission was carried out from the KGBT TV network was on 1953 along with CBS affiliation. The founder of KGBT CBS 4 was a Spanish language radio owned by Tichenor Media System. The workplaces were shared their ABC programming with KRGV TV which was an NBC affiliated channel and later in 1981 the KGBT TV keeps the NBC affiliation as secondary. The owner of WBOC TV from Maryland which was known as Draper Holdings Business Trust sold the LGBT TV in 1998 after deciding to leave the English Language broadcasting.

Barrington Broadcasting in August 2006 acquired the KGBT TV from Raycom Media. In a deal of 18 television in 2013, the Sinclair Broadcast Group made a deal with Barrington. A part of the settlement between Sinclair and Nexstar, Sinclair announced to sell WDKY TV which was operated in the area of Lexington, Kentucky along with Non-license assets of KGBT. Sports Extra program was launched from KGBT CBS 4 on Friday and Sunday which was included high school football games and highlights of professional games.
