KMID-TV got its authorization with ABC network in 1982 when its association with NBC was replaced by KTPX-TV. KMID-TV was auctioned off along with its two side stations by Lorimar-Telepictures in 1987. Goltrin Comm. acquired the possession of KMID in accordance with KSPR-TV and KCPM-TV. Goltrin auctioned off all these outlets in 1988. After switching its possession to different companies, it was finally bought by Nexstar Broadcasting who is present owners in 2000.
KMID Local News Live:
KMID stop its evening transmission of the newscast in 2003 due to the poor rating in the area of Permian Basin and news night was reinstated on Sunday transmission in late 2006. Nexstar Media Group acquired the entire group on April 24, 2013, from Communications Corporation of America. Virtually duopoly with KMID under shared sales agreement with KPEJ, Nexstar decided to sell out the KPEJ to Marshall Broadcasting Group on June 6, 2014. Under federal rules and regulations, KMID shifted its analog transmission over VHF channel 2 on June 12, 2009, which was become the full-power television station in the United States.

Weather app from KMID ABC 2 brings you the more legible text designs and articles on its mobile app. The meteorologist team of the channel is delivering weather updates including reports of daily and weekly forecast reports which are available on this application. Heavy rainfalls and snow falling during winter prediction are also available and updated every minute during transmission. It can also deliver weather alerts in case of bad weather situations.
