KTAL Television is a UHF digital frequency 26 which is virtually based and an NBC-affiliated TV channel that is licensed to Texarkana, Texas, and serving the areas of Shreveport, Louisiana. This network is only the main network that is affiliated and licensed to the municipality of outer Louisiana. Nexstar Media Broadcasting which was also operated two others licensed stations for Shreveport, Louisiana. That channel was KMSS TV channel 33 which is fox affiliated and owned by Mission Broadcasting and KSHV TV channel 45 is owned by White Knight Broadcasting with the affiliation with MyNetwork TV.
Both channels working under an agreement of separate share services. KTAL shared studios are located in the Northeast of Shreveport and the secondary studio is located in Summerhill Road of Texarkana. The station transmitter is located Northwest of Vivian, Louisiana. On February 5, 1953, the federal commission granted the permission for construction of the new station.
KCMC TV assigned the television call letters which were previously using from the Camden New Publishing radio station. The KTAL NBC’s first broadcasting starts on August 16, 1953, and become the first licensed station which is outside of Shreveport and in the Texarkana market. It was not only the municipality licensed within the area of Louisiana but the full-power television station in the designated market of Shreveport. It was originally affiliated as a primary CBS channel and also inherited with CBS Radio Network. As secondary affiliation, the station has NBC, ABC, and DuMont Television networks.
KTAL Local News Live:
KCMC TV studios were operations and maintained in the area of Summerhill Road and in Northwest Texarkana. After increasing the transmitter capacity in May 1954, KCMC was able only to provide B grade signals which were not fully covered the Caddo Parish, and no services were found in the area of Shreveport August 1956 the KCMC TV stop working as the affiliation of DuMont because of some issues with the relations of Paramount Pictures.
The station call letters were changed from KCMC to KTAL Tv on May 1, 1961, and covering the entire area of Louisiana and deeper in the areas of Shreveport by the installation of the second tallest transmission tower of 480 meters. KTAL TV become the NBC affiliated channel with the agreement in March 1961 and replace the frequency 3 which was serving in the area of Shreveport.
