Station 73 was the source for the transmission at that time. It was also owned the radio stations WNIO AM and WQXX FM which is tunned on 1390 and 105.1 signals. NBC for television transmission and NBC Red Network was affiliated with WFMJ throughout its entire history in the market. WFMJ NBC 21 was originally issued to WUTV which was later bought the construction permit from Maags and shifted to the original channel on August 7, 1954. During the process of channel shifting, it was on-aired on channel 73 without having any affiliation with other networks while WYTV was operated on channel 45 during 1959. Northern areas of the Pittsburg market were captured by WFMJ-TV as an NBC-associated television network until 1957.
WFMJ Local News Live:
WJAC-TV and WTRF in Johnstown and West Virginia were not sufficient for the broadcasting service of NBC programming. In September 1957, WIIC-TV start its own transmission for the area of Pittsburg which was also briefly covered the market of Northeastern Ohio and Northwestern Pennsylvania. Channel 3 was acquired by Westinghouse Broadcasting in Cleveland which helps to enhance WFMJ services to the eastern and southern parts of Cleveland with help of a digital antenna. NBC programming was undone after purchasing WKYC during 1965 which was accessed by area channels for transmission. WFMJ was the only channel left in the area which has local ownership and operational activities carried out in Ohio besides WBNX was serving Akron and WHIZ was providing its transmission services to Zanesville.
