WHNT-TV, channel 19 digital virtual and UHF, is a TV station affiliated with CBS, which is licensed in Huntsville, Alabama, USA, and serves the Tennessee Valley in northern Alabama. Nexstar Media Group-owned this station and is part of a monopoly with the CW subsidiary licensed by Florence WHDF (Channel 15). Nexstar Media Group, Inc. is the largest local TV and media company in the United States, with 198 power stations (including partner power stations) in 116 markets, serving nearly 62% of American TV households and digital media business is also continuing development.

Until 5 pm on November 25, 2008, the station provided a 24-hour local weather channel on its second digital sub-channel. Then, it switched to RTV, which was later replaced by a similar network Antenna TV in January 2011. WHNT-TV went live on January 1, 2011, and became an authorized member of Antenna TV. WHNT begin to be the first station in the Huntsville market to broadcast digital signals in May 2002 and began broadcasting in high definition on UHF channel 59. On June 12, 2009, WHNT-TV turned off its analog signal on the UHF channel, which is part of the federal government’s transition from analog to digital television.

WHNT has attracted attention for reporting major news on the spot, such as the shooting of a Huntsville police officer, the 2006 Huntsville bus accident, and the settlement of the 30-year-old murder in September 2007. Since the fall of 2004, WHNT has used the ARMOR Doppler weather radar system with its own weather radar at the launch site. On August 18, 2008, WHNT became Huntsville’s first television station and began broadcasting all its news programs on a 16:9 digital widescreen. On August 18, 2010, at 10 pm on the news broadcast, WHNT became the first Huntsville TV station to start broadcasting news clips in full HD.
