WITN television is basically a virtual channel 7 which is technically operated by digital UHF mode 34. My Network TV and NBC attachment are carrying and transmission licensed is issued for the area of Washington, North Carolina in the United States. The broadcasting service range is wide enough to cover the region of Inner Banks of Eastern North Carolina. Gray Television is the present owner of the station and the WITN operational facility is situated in Greenville on East Arlington Boulevard. The transmitter tower is constructed in the area of Grifton Township beside NC 118.
Bern of North Carolina has the second studio facility for transmission activities. It became the second area television network after WNCT from Greenville begin its operational tasks. WITN NBC 7 was carrying some ABC programming with WNCT while NBC affiliation was attached from the very beginning.
From the 1955 World Series WITN started its broadcasting activities in the area. Analog signals on very high frequency were generated from the highly elevated transmitter which was located in the area. North Carolina Television was the original founder of the station and the Roberson family was having WITN radio. AFLAC acquired the television in 1985 from the previous owner and TV suffix was added in its call letters of July 31, 1978.
Raycom Media was developed by Retirement Systems and Ellis Communications which was later bought the WITN from AFLAC. Signa overlap occurred with WECT which could not sustain the ownership by Raycom. City grade signals were covering the north market of the Wilmington area. Federal Communications Commission was not allowing any company to have stations which signals are overlapping with others.

In 1997 Gray Television decided to buy the station and become the full-power digital signal in June 2006. High-resolution transmission begins on January 7, 2009, which was available by DirectTV and Dish Network which are cable providers in the market. WITN changed its hometown from Washington to the latest and highly equipped studio which was constructed in Greenville. From 1998 to 2014 WITN and East Carolina University are the multimedia partners along with syndicated programming.
Viewership of WITN:
WITN even offered the transmission service for sports events which was not provided officially from ESPN. Local weather forecasting was carried out by WITN-DT2 which was serving 24 hours and on September 28, 2009, My Network TV become associated with the other programming shows.
