On November 22, 1980, WPDE on-aired first in history with analog signals on WPDE ABC 15. Some local investors having Eastern Carolinas Broadcasting Company was the founder of channel 15 and operated UHF digital signals in the market. It has become the WBTW’s first television while WPDE was operating as the second commercial station.
WPDE ABC 15 call letters were taken from the slogan We’re People Dedicated to Excellence.
