WNYS transmitter tower is based in the area of Ithaca College Campus near South Hill. The station was at the beginning working in the market as WKAF which was operated on UHF channel 62 instead of 68. On February 15, 1986, the owner of the network got permission for reassigned the tunned numbers, and operational activities were begun immediately with three hours of religious-based programs was included in the transmission slot every day. Flatley Company got the ownership right of this network with having permission to construct offices on James Street in the region of Syracuse.
