On 2 February 2009, Sinclair send an email to satellite TV and cable providers which regarding the exact mandatory switchover date to only digital broadcasting for the full-power station. On 17 February, the station was turned off its analog signals. The purpose of this is to making the WXLV and WMYV first stations in the market to convert only digital broadcast transmissions. When WXLV TV turned off its analog signals at 11:59 p.m. then the station digital signals remained on its pre-transition UHF Channel 29 by using PSIP to display WXLY virtual channel as 45 on digital TV receivers. Due to the part of the SAFER Act WXLV TV kept its analog signal on the air until 13 march to inform its viewers about digital TV Transition using the loop from the National Association of Broadcasters.
